Wunderbar Beach Hotel

The bathroom smelled very bad, and no one did anything about it. There was no phone in the room to contact reception. Staff heard us shouting from the balcony but practically ignored us. They weren’t helpful and seemed to ignore direct conversation. We clearly repeated our breakfast requests and were told okay, but what arrived was disappointing and left us hungry. The hotel is old and not very good in either service or infrastructure. I’ll never return and wouldn’t recommend it.

Staying here was a pleasure. The staff are professional, friendly and always smiling. The hotel is very good, and the restaurant is worth visiting. Everything was very good.

Breakfast was huge, with fruit, juice, tea, toast and eggs made how you like them. I also had a gigantic cabbage and pineapple salad that was really refreshing. We didn’t like the grilled mullet, the texture seemed a bit odd compared with mullet at home. The room was comfortable, though the pillows were very soft, just like at every other hotel on our trip. The pool is lovely, with shade and sun loungers, and towels are provided for the pool and beach. Beach access is about 100m straight ahead over the train tracks, with loungers and a shaded pergola. It’s about half an hour’s walk along the beach to town. Trains run roughly every 30 minutes until around 9-10pm, then start again about 530-6ish, I think. We didn’t notice them much in our room, but light sleepers probably will.

The sea view was awesome, and we enjoyed the beautiful hotel and delicious food. The hospitality for guests was superb. The bathroom and bedroom needed to be cleaner than they were, though. There were cockroaches outside, and the swimming pool floor tiles were slippery, which could be dangerous for children. Other than that, we all enjoyed the place a lot.
