The kitchen was the reason we picked this place, so not being able to use one was disappointing. The listing on Google and Booking.com clearly mentions a fridge, coffee / tea maker and dishwasher, though there was no access to the kitchen or fridge. There’s no TV either, but that mattered least to us. Without the kitchen issue, we’d have had no complaints. The setting is lovely and quiet, with a big garden among rice paddies, and the town center is an 8-minute walk away. The owner was helpful and nice. Our room was clean and spacious, and the beds were large and comfortable. There were mosquito nets on the windows.

The green paddy fields make for a peaceful view, and Hansika Guest Inn sits right at the start of the Kataragama-Buttala road, close to Yudaganawa Temple. It’s also easy to find near Buttala town, with shops and restaurants within walking distance. There’s plenty of parking, and the rooms are large and comfortable. The washroom feels a little old-fashioned, but it’s kept up well and seems fair for the price. A calm, budget-friendly place to stay.
