Fairway Colombo - Sri Lanka's First Hotel With Robot Technology

The welcome on the in-room TV showed my mother's father's name, and she was especially moved by that because he worked in Ceylon nearly 50 years ago. It made the trip feel emotional and special for her. I booked The Fairway, Colombo for my 70-year-old mother, 42-year-old sister, and 15-year-old niece on their “Ladies in Lanka” all-girls trip. They stayed in a Family Room with a lovely city view. The hotel is a few minutes' walk from Galle Face and the rocky oceanfront, with stunning views across the street. Breakfast at the rooftop restaurant was amazing, with lots of food options and excellent service. Bell service was prompt and convenient too. Foreign exchanges, a supermarket, convenience stores, and popular restaurants including The King Crab are nearby. My family had a wonderful time in Colombo and was very happy with the hospitality. The hospitality was good and I had no issues during my stay. The hotel is near dutch hospital premise, with premium restaurants known for high-quality seafood close by. Galle Face Mall, one of the largest malls here, is nearby too, and the tourist spots were all within easy reach. I had a good stay.

The hotel is pretty bare-bones, without extra frills, but it was clean, functional, and covered the essentials for a city stay. The staff stood out for being warm, pleasant, and always ready to help. Its beachside location is excellent, about a 500-meter walk from Galle Face Beach, in a calm, safe area that is nicely lit at night. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and evening walks were lovely. Autos and other local transport are easy to find, so getting around Colombo is convenient. The buffet wasn't as extensive as at a large resort, but it was well stocked and thoughtfully put together, with lots of vegetarian choices. Both breakfast and dinner were hearty and satisfying. A great pick if location, safety, and comfort matter most, and you're fine with a simple place while exploring the city.

We stayed at Hotel Fairway Colombo twice, once at the start of our trip and once at the end, for two nights in total. The rooftop area had a nice vibe and was a relaxing spot after a long day. Rooms were modern, clean, and well maintained, with the basic amenities we needed, comfortable beds, and a neat feel throughout. The location was a big plus, right in the heart of the city and within walking distance of attractions, restaurants, and shopping. It was easy to explore Colombo from there. Staff were warm, polite, and ready to help, and check-in and checkout went smoothly. The stay was pleasant and good value for the money, especially given the location and service. We'd consider coming back if we visit Colombo again.
