Golden Pier City Hotel

The rooftop view was amazing, with Colombo Lotus Tower visible from up there. We had a lovely place to stay for three people, and the staff were warm and friendly. SHUBHA was especially helpful and gave us a lot of support during our stay.

The area around the hotel is lively and colourful, with tailoring, groceries, shoe and clothes shops, meat, souvenirs, temples, churches and duty free nearby. It was budget friendly, the food was decent, and our room was clean with AC that cooled us down nicely in Colombo's weather. The staff were open and easy to chat with. This place may not suit everyone, but it's a good fit if you want to relax and explore. Thanks to everyone working here.

This was my second stay, and I had a great time again. The rooms were tidy, spacious and felt safe. The owner was friendly and supportive, and the staff were good too. They didn't help with our luggage, but when we left a few things in the room, they called right away and got them safely back to us. The location felt a little sketchy, though it was manageable. I'd definitely return. Thanks, everyone.

I came back to find 15,000 LKR missing from my room after leaving my key with the hotel for room service. No service had been done, and the door had been locked differently. Management first refused to show the full CCTV footage and shared only partial clips. At checkout the next day, I was finally shown another clip they'd held back. It showed a man entering my room for about a minute while the hotel had my key. Even then, they said there was “no proof” and put the responsibility back on me. The missing cash is concerning, but so is the lack of transparency and accountability in their response. I wouldn't stay here again, and I'm sharing this so other travelers can make an informed choice.
