I spent a month there, from 6 April to 5 May, and paid 234,000 in total. When I checked out, the discount I got was only 1,200. I asked about it casually and sent a laughing emoji, without any bad intent. The owner called and reacted by scolding me aggressively instead of explaining. He was rude, told me to remove the emoji and asked how I dared to send it, then threatened to throw me out of the hotel. He also used abusive language on the call. Guests deserve basic respect and decent communication. I’m not Sri Lankan, but I respect Sri Lanka and its people, and I’ve never been treated with this kind of disrespect before. I wouldn’t recommend the place. They seem to care only about money, while treating people very poorly. Guests are human beings too.

We had an exam the next day and important work nearby, so waiting until about 9 PM for our room after a booking mix-up left us tired and cut into our study time. The owners admitted it was their mistake and apologized sincerely, which we appreciated. It would’ve been a perfect five-star stay without that three-hour delay. Double-check your booking confirmation before you arrive. Apart from that, we had a really good time at OYO MotelVIP, Wellawatte. The owner was kind and friendly, the staff were exceptional, and the clean, comfortable rooms and service were worth the price. Still highly recommended for the people and rooms.

The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable, and the reception guy was friendly and very helpful. There’s no breakfast, but a shop right next to the hotel sells nice snacks. It’s a simple place, good for a night or two. The rooms are really dark with no daylight, though that’s fine for somewhere to sleep. We’d stay again for a sleepover :)

Quiet and safe, and great value for your money. A nice place to visit.

The location is excellent, close enough to walk into the city but far enough out to stay peaceful, with the beach just a stone’s throw away. The rooms were lovely and clean. The man at the counter spoke only a little English, but he was really friendly and accommodating.
