Taru Villas - Lake Lodge

Breakfast was the highlight of our night at Nyne Lake Lodge. We arrived in Colombo in the afternoon and stayed one night before heading off into SL. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, and our room was lovely and comfortable, with AC, big ceiling fans, and a cute garden patio. Tucked away from the main roads, it was peaceful at night, yet the parks, sights, and restaurants were still within walking distance.

A comfortable bed and nicely furnished room, plus great breakfast choices. I'd recommend trying a local option. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and the place is lovely. Just a couple of small issues: the AC wasn't fully responsive and was a little tricky to use. The bathroom was very dark, although the shower was large and nice. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

We stayed one night and it was pleasant. They kindly let us check in late. The room was lovely and comfortable, with a decent-sized bathroom. Breakfast really impressed me: I had French toast and coffee, and fruit and bread came with it.

The staff packed us a sandwich and fruit for dinner to make up for the breakfast we'd miss, which was really kind. We had booked two nights even though we wouldn't sleep there the second night, because we had a ridiculous flight time and wanted to keep the room all day. And wow, breakfast. I had chicken curry with string hoppers, absolutely delicious. Mrs C had the fluffiest omelette she's ever had. Nyne Hotels Lake Lodge is highly recommended, right in the heart of Colombo.
