We stayed in the “superior” room, which had plenty of space and a large double bed, though it was made up of two separate mattresses. The bathroom was good enough, and the place was basic but good value, with laundry service and bicycles for rent. The owner was charming, welcoming, and helpful, and gave us advice about visiting the Anuradhapura sights. We had lots of fun playing a Sri Lankan board game with him in the evening. There was a misunderstanding the next day about our Wilpattu safari, which was a big disappointment anyway, and he made it up to us with a free home-cooked lunch. I’d definitely recommend the place if you’re traveling on a budget.

Things improved after a rocky start, when we spotted a cute little bug on the door. The man of the house was friendly and charming, made us lunch and breakfast, and invited us to dinner. We also played a Sri Lankan board game with him. A fine place to stay, especially for the price.

Charm Inn Tourist Rest has air conditioning and a desk in the rooms, free wifi, a restaurant, free parking, room service, and a 24 hour front desk with 24 hour check-in. Vessagiriya Ruins and Isurumuniya Temple are nearby, and Vessagiriya Ruins is also within walking distance. For food nearby, there’s Mango Mango, Little Paradise Anuradhapura, and Casserole. It’s a helpful, convenient option for visiting Anuradhapura.

The host was friendly and helpful, and renting a bicycle made it handy to visit the ancient city. The rooms are basic, but spacious.

The hygiene was poor. We followed a friend who had stayed there, but there was just one mosquito net for two beds, the bathrooms were dirty, and mosquitoes were everywhere.
