The room we were shown had no air conditioning, even though the Agoda listing for a “standard double room with fan” said AC was available in the comforts. When I pointed out the description, the hotel wouldn't help and said “Not my problem,” then claimed the AC rooms were fully booked. The listing clearly said AC was available, and I felt the hotel was fooling customers. I had a terrible stay and would never choose this place again. For a foreigner, this could leave a very bad impression of Sri Lanka. It would be a huge vacation mistake to stay here. 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮

The kids said the place had “the Shining” vibes, and I could see why: the rooms were grubby and a bit mouldy, and the hotel felt abandoned. Still, they gave us a nice chicken and fried rice meal, and my husband enjoyed a couple of Lion beers. It's near the cave temple, but if you're heading to Sygiriya, stay in Sygiriya town.

The pool was a welcome way to cool down, and there are a couple of good places to eat within 200m. The hotel is very close to the cave temple, with a good connection to the main bus station. Buses to Kandy leave every 10 minutes from across the road. Staff were really friendly and helpful. The building has seen better days, though, and I wasn't sure about the cleanliness of the rooms.

A calm place with very friendly staff, and especially tasty food. We tried the “Fish Noodles” and liked them a lot. There was a reasonable amount of vegetables along with the fish, and the prices were very reasonable. The room and bathroom were clean. The TV reception wasn't working properly because monkeys had damaged the antenna lines. Sounds odd, but it's true.
