The proprietor made this simple, homely place special. He's friendly and helpful, and arranged trips to Sigiryia and Polonuruwa with good trishaw drivers. He also made sure we found the right bus to Colombo. Breakfast time was flexible, and we had AC in our room as a bonus we hadn't booked.

$ Staying here means staying in the owner's home, which is a nice way to experience a local household. The room is very spacious, but bring your own toiletries. It's very close to the cave temple and the city. A Tuk Tuk ride shouldn't cost more than 200 Rs. His brother took us on a full-day tour for $42 (6500 Rs), which was a great deal. We had planned to hike Pidurangala, which is better and cheaper than the other popular option, and go to Kaudulla Safari. He suggested adding Polonnaruwa, and we were glad we did. By the end we were tired, but he was still coming up with more places to visit, so you can make the day as long as you like. He's a nice guy. The owner, his brother, was very friendly too. He gave us good suggestions for local places to eat, plus extra water and snacks. A great experience overall.
