The host even made us breakfast to take along when we needed to leave earlier than usual, and helped us plan the rest of our trip. That was typical of how supportive he was. The rooms were spotless and had some nice decorations, which we hadn’t expected for what we paid. After almost eight full days travelling around SL with two friends from abroad, this was the best place we’d stayed. We’d happily come back if we’re in Dambulla again. 🙂
The breakfast was the highlight, huge and really tasty! It’s also great value for money in Dambula. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean, and the beds are comfortable. There’s a good shower and the AC works well. A cute, pleasant hostel.
The room was clean, though it did smell a bit moldy. It has an AC unit as well as a ceiling fan. The owners are kind and helpful, and the place is really nice, one of the best we’ve stayed at in Sri Lanka so far. For its low price, it’s absolutely worth it.
The bathroom was the low point: no hot water, and mosquitoes and frogs everywhere. The room was average, nothing special, and service was fine. Breakfast was good. It’s about a 15-minute walk from town and the restaurants, though pretty much nowhere in Dambulla is close to town. The price felt way too high for Sri Lanka, but I guess that’s what having a UNESCO site in town does. There aren’t many other options, so would I stay here again? Not sure.
The room was clean and nice, though the air felt a little stuffy. There’s both AC and a fan. We had lots of mosquitoes, probably just because of the region. The owner made sandwiches for us so we could set off early for Sigiriya, and they have a tuk-tuk if you need to go somewhere. A nice homestay.
