We made Shan Inn our base for three nights while visiting Dambulla, Sigiriya, and Polonnaruwa. The place was quiet, and both the room and bed were good. There were a few critters around, as you'd expect in this kind of setting, but the mosquito net kept them away from us at night. Our host was the highlight: very kind, helpful, and honestly funny. She made us a great breakfast and gave us useful advice on getting around. The Cave Temple entrance is very close, and a fancy hotel almost next door let us spend a relaxing afternoon by its pool, with sun beds, hammocks, and towels, for a reasonable fee.

We highly recommend this lovely homestay. The family were kind and really helpful, and Chathuri cooked us an amazing dinner and great breakfasts each day. The big Buddha and Cave temple are within walking distance.

Near the cave temple, with Chathuri's hospitality as the real highlight. She gave us great recommendations, helped us get around, and her cooking and baking were exceptional. She made our stay memorable. Highly recommended!

This family-run guesthouse was great. We were welcomed and shown to a clean room with good AC. I'd read comments about road noise, but we didn't hear a thing. Watching monkeys visit the garden trees up close was amazing. Breakfast was simple, and tea or coffee was available on request. Thanks for a lovely stay.
