The owners were warm and exceptionally kind, and they even offered to return my LKR 1000 deposit when I had to leave early because of an emergency. I declined the refund because I wanted to support them, given their situation. They live on the premises, and the place feels more like a house with rooms than a conventional hotel. I’d booked through booking.com and arrived from Australia expecting what the website had described. Instead, the rooms seemed dated and in need of major renovation. There was no bar fridge or television, the lighting was dim, and black boards blocked the windows. I found dust and cobwebs, and basic supplies like soap, shampoo, and a hair dryer were missing. Room service also had no coffee, tea, or milk powder. Staff were hard to reach, so sorting out these issues was difficult. The amenities were sparse, and the property was hard to find, with no visible hotel sign. I’d give hygiene one star and customer service three. It may suit young couples on a short stay, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a holiday. The misleading information on the booking site made the experience disappointing.

The beach is only a two-minute walk away, and they provide lifeguards and even serve food down there, which is great service. It’s a calm, relaxing place with good service, lovely restaurant food, and a bar. They also give full-board in-house guests a free foot massage. The downside is that they still don’t take credit or debit cards.

Mr. Sanjaya and the staff were kind, and everything was clean and free of charge. The facilities were just right. A really nice place, one of the best I’ve seen.

I’d paid for bed tea the night before, but when I was leaving in the morning, there was none. I waited until 6:30 after asking for it at 6:00, called reception and got no answer, then knocked at the hotel door. Still nothing. I had to leave Duw’s White House without my tea, and I was very disappointed. Lakshman
