Grand Rovinka Hotel

We booked a VIP room for our vacation, and it was comfortable, neat, and clean. The welcome was lovely, and we both really liked the hotel. The food was delicious too. My girlfriend and I are already looking forward to coming back for another vacation.

Had such a fun, memorable holiday here. The bar is a really enjoyable place, and the food tastes great. The welcome, staff, rooms, and management were all good too. I want to thank the management for everything. I don’t know why some people say bad things about this hotel, maybe they had a personal problem. Thanks, Grand Rovinka.

The worst part was how the staff handled everything. When the shower problem continued, it took 30 minutes for someone to come, and they couldn’t fix it. They just said it would be fine in a while, but it stayed that way throughout the 22 hours I was there. Nobody even apologized. The staff seemed untrained and unsure how to work the fixtures, and their response showed no empathy. I was in Colombo for business and booked the superior deluxe king room, their best option. It looked new and was well maintained, but that didn’t make the stay usable. During the day, the air conditioning seemed to be on but blew no cool air. Reception sent someone who told me to use the ceiling fan, even though I’d paid for a room with all amenities. Then I tried to shower to get out of the unbearable heat. Both the shower and bathtub poured out scalding water. After five minutes, steam was billowing and the bathroom had turned into a sauna. I contacted reception again, but the problem was never fixed. I’d read negative reviews and decided to give Grand Rovinka a chance. I deeply regret it. The room looked modern, but with no working AC or shower and such unhelpful service, the whole experience was a nightmare and one of the worst hotel stays I’ve had.

There’s a nice bar with an awesome vibe, and parking is available. The menu is reasonable, the rice is good for a drink, and there’s a 10% service charge. Rooms are available too, but privacy needs to improve. Guests shouldn’t be watched suspiciously while waiting around the car park or front area.
