PLEASE BE AWARE. I am a woman, and I had a deeply disturbing experience with the hotel manager, a man. He came into my room under a false pretext, pretending to check something. Once inside, he approached me inappropriately, said he liked me, and physically jumped on me. I had to push him out so he would leave. He later completely denied what happened. This made me feel unsafe and violated. No woman should have to experience this in a place that's supposed to be safe. I filed a detailed report with the police about the sexual harassment. At checkout, the hotel also charged us much more than the price agreed and confirmed beforehand, without a valid explanation. The room has been paid for, even though the checkout price differed from what we agreed. That's a separate issue, and another reason to avoid this hotel. It's absolutely not trustworthy. I strongly recommend staying away. RESPONSE TO REPLY: I HAVE FILED WHAT HAPPENED TO POLICE IN DETAILS regarding sexual harassment.

The views from the balcony over the sea and pool were stunning, and Dikwella beach is very close. We enjoyed the natural beauty of the beach during our Christmas 2025 stay at Crystal Resort, Dikwella, for three nights in three rooms. The rooms were clean and well furnished, with AC, a fridge, and tea and coffee. But the first room we were offered had a leaking sink, so we had to move a second time. With no elevator or ground-floor rooms, we asked for first-floor rooms for my 78-year-old wife. Management only agreed after we said we were leaving because she couldn't climb the stairs. For a pricier hotel, service should be smooth and flawless. There's only breakfast, and you have to pay extra. Some plumbing and fittings need maintenance. Management should improve its hospitality and upkeep.

Being right across from Dickwella Beach was the one good thing about this stay. The rest was a mess: the room had mold, towels were dirty, outlets didn't work, and the Wi-Fi barely worked. The hotel seemed dirty and badly maintained, and the service was terrible. It felt like proper cleaning and upkeep had been neglected for a long time. One of the worst hotel experiences I've had, far below acceptable standards and a complete waste of money. I strongly don't recommend it.

Dickwella Crystal Resort is right by Dickwella beach, and it's an easy 15-minute walk to Hiriketiya. We enjoyed heading to the beach in the morning and relaxing there. It's a calm, spacious spot facing the ocean, with a pool, cared-for grounds, stone elefants, and friendly staff. The big rooms also make it suitable for children. Everything in our room was comfortable, and we didn't run into the problems mentioned in other reviews.

They cancelled our large booking the day before we were due to stay, apparently because they got a better offer. We'd arranged it for my cousin's wedding, a once-in-a-lifetime family trip. After cancelling, they were rude and wouldn't help us find somewhere else to stay. A really shoddy service. Do not book.
