Hiriketiya White House

After a long day at the beach, this hostel was just right for a simple, quiet stay. I had room number 4 to myself. It was clean and had everything I needed, and through the bathroom’s open window I could see palm trees and the moon. I slept so well and would definitely recommend it.

The family running the White House were the best part of our stay. They were so kind and even drove us into town for dinner, then came back to collect us. It’s also well placed, around five minutes on foot to the beach and ten to the main strip. Our room was basic but had what we needed, and the price felt like great value. The shower had no hot water and the bed was quite firm. Since the room is open to the outdoors, a few bugs can get in, though the mosquito net kept that from being a big problem. A friendly, relaxed budget option near Hiriketiya Beach.

The hosts are incredibly friendly, and Hiriketiya beach is only a five-minute walk away, which is great for surfing. I’d really recommend staying at the White House if you’re visiting Hiriketiya.

We stayed five nights, and the location worked really well, with local cafes and restaurants nearby where meals were tasty and very cheap. The jungle setting felt remote and wild, but the beach was about a 10-minute walk and the town centre around 15 minutes away. We booked one of the cheapest rooms and found it more than enough. The bed was super comfortable, with a small balcony looking out over the jungle. The staff were always lovely and helped sort a few things for us. Definitely recommend it.
