Broad view

The hill walk was worth it for that view. The family who runs the place made us feel so welcome, and the room was tidy. Breakfast was great too. We really enjoyed staying here and would definitely have extended our stay if we could. I’d recommend it.

We left after the first night and found another guesthouse for half the price, where we loved it enough to extend our stay. Before that, we told the hosts about the problems and they showed us another room. It had a comfortable bed but no view, and they still expected us to pay the same rate as for the view room. When we asked about the price difference, the host cancelled our Booking.com reservation and marked us as a no-show, so we couldn’t leave a review there. The room we booked had a noisy construction site blocking the mountain view, despite what the Booking.com photos showed. Breakfast wasn’t served on the balcony as expected, but up by the hosts’ house. The room smelled strongly of mold, had several cockroaches, and the bed’s springs jabbed into us all night. The toilet seat wasn’t attached. I can’t recommend this guesthouse and suggest staying somewhere else.

The family here are friendly and helpful, and the food is really tasty. It’s a very budget-friendly option around Ella. The rooms aren’t the best, but they’re in good shape. They’re building more rooms, which should have a better view, since the current view is partly blocked. It’s only a five-minute drive from Ella town, though the road up is very steep and difficult for vehicles. If you’re walking, you can use the stairs from the road.

The rooms are spacious, comfortable, and clean, and the view is beautiful. The family hosting us was wonderful. We highly recommend it! :)
