Chamodya Home Stay

The views are 11/10, with valleys, waterfalls, birds, nature all around, and the plains in the distance. Breakfasts are 10/10 too, with lilu, her husband, and the staff putting so much care into the food. Totally worth staying at Chamodya Homestay, and I’d recommend it to everyone. To get there, from the railway station stop you can walk beside the tracks for about 3 minutes and skip the steeper stretch from the bus stand. From the bus stand, have a quick coffee at the coffee shop on your left by the fruit store, then take the first left and walk uphill for a kilometre.

The balcony scenery is stunning, and breakfast was delicious every morning. Lilu made us feel so welcome with her amazing hospitality. The accommodation is about a 10-minute walk along the train tracks to Ella high street. I hope I can come back.

We really liked the quiet location. Ella centre is still close, about a 10-minute walk along the train tracks. The hosts were very friendly, and our clean room had a fridge and a wonderful view of the surrounding mountains. It gets cooler at night, so air conditioning isn’t needed.

The owner was incredibly kind and helpful, and the breakfasts were delicious. Some of the better hoppers I’ve had in Sri Lanka. Our room was comfortable and clean, and the bed was so cozy. Chamodya Home Stay gave us a wonderful experience in Ella, with beautiful views and town only a few minutes’ walk away.
