Ella Breeze Homestay

We picked this place because we didn't want to stay right in Ella, and it was a great choice. It's surrounded by greenery, around a 20-minute scooter ride from town, with the railway tracks just beside it where you can watch trains go by. Our room was very clean and perfectly fine. Breakfast was delicious, and dinner was available too and very good. You can hike from the accommodation to Ella Rock in about an hour. Our host also gave us a private tour of a tea plantation and factory.

We had breakfast and dinner on the terrace, looking out over the lush hills. The house is beautiful, peaceful, and tucked into nature away from Ella's chaotic center. Our room was comfortable and clean. Mr Devaka was welcoming and kind, and helped with useful ideas for things to see and do as well as transportation. The food, cooked fresh every day by Mr Devaka's wife, was so tasty. A lovely stay, definitely recommended.

Mr Devaka and his family made us feel at home, and he arranged transport for our onward journey and shared lots of information about the area. He's a true gentleman, warm and kind. The house is peaceful in the middle of nature, giving us breathing room from town. Our clean, comfortable room had a beautiful veranda over the valley. We loved sitting there watching and listening to the birds, and having breakfast, dinner, and lovely cups of tea. Thank you again for all your kindness. Highly recommend.

We stayed here for stages 14 and 15 of the Pekoe Trail, and the owner arranged a tuk to get us from Ella. The big shared balconies have great views. Rooms were spotless, beds and pillows comfortable, and the small bathrooms were fine, though the hot water pressure could've been better. We ate dinner here both nights: tasty local rice and curry, including produce from their garden. I could've used more spice, though I think they tone it down just in case. It's a lovely family who clearly care about their guests enjoying themselves, dogs included. The cats couldn't care less. There's a local railway line just below the guesthouse, but the train timings won't really affect your stay.
