We had everything we needed for a nice stay, including a fridge and tea and coffee kettle in the room. It was spacious, clean and nicely decorated, with a large bed and a big balcony looking out at an amazing view. The staff were very friendly and kind. We enjoyed our stay!

Our big, beautiful room had a nice bed with white sheets, a small fridge and a balcony with an amazing view. The problem was the water: dirty brown water came out of the pipes, so we had to buy lots of bottled drinking water just to brush our teeth and shower. The hotel workers were renovating and adding another floor, and the loud roof noise started at 8 am and went on all day. They also rent scooters at a pretty high price, but the motorbike was in such poor shape that we returned it an hour after renting it. Thankfully, the staff were kind, came to collect it and gave us a full refund. Thank you.

Ella is a party place, so don't expect peace and quiet. We felt very comfortable here, and the welcome was so friendly. The rooms were clean and looked good, though they're always being renovated. The owners are living their dream, and the hotel has the character of a backpacker place. They're constantly fixing it up. The white elephant at the entrance had just been repainted, and it's a work of art. Breakfast on the roof terrace was lovely. You can tell from the quality that they know how to cook, and they also offer a cooking course you should treat yourself to. The real heart of the place is the people running it. They'll even take the time to drive around with you in a tuktuk and show you the spots. Don't believe the bad reviews, they seem to come from spoiled five-star guests who don't understand the spirit of this hotel.

The owner's food is delicious, and he's so passionate about cooking that you shouldn't miss eating here. The Sri Lankan breakfast is a great way to start the day before heading into town. The property is perfect, with beautiful rooms right in the center, yet only a few meters uphill you'll find an amazing view and a peaceful night's sleep. The balcony room is super comfortable, with nice furniture for relaxing over late afternoon tea. Everything was perfectly clean.
