Hillcrest

Our office group of 17 had a smooth, well-organized annual excursion at Hillcrest Hotel in Ella last month. We stayed for 2 nights and 3 days, and the staff were professional, friendly, and dedicated throughout. The rooms were comfortable, with stunning views from every one, and the food arrangements were excellent. The BBQ night was a highlight, well arranged and enjoyable for everyone. The team was supportive and responsive to all our requests from the planning stage, even a month before we arrived, which made organizing the trip much easier. A fantastic experience, and we highly recommend it for group trips and excursions.

The view here is absolutely magical, and I fell in love with the place. It’s not fancy and doesn’t have many amenities, but I couldn’t get enough of that view. We ended up staying an extra day because we were having so much fun. While I loved Sri Lanka, this was my favorite hotel in my favorite town in the whole country. It’s up a very big hill, and the road isn’t great. Our driver dropped us off. We later found steps down the side of the hill that lead straight to town, and it wasn’t a bad walk at all. The staff were pleasant enough and helped us make phone calls to our driver. My brother booked the hotel for us, and we’d prepaid. He decided not to stay, got his money refunded, and went to another hotel in town. We’re American and stayed here a year ago in October. If you want fancy with high-end amenities, this place isn’t for you. If you want that amazing view, take it, relax, and enjoy!

Getting to the hotel means making your way up a hill, which can take a little effort, but it’s very good once you’re there. The rooms are great, the view is great, and the staff were really helpful. We’d recommend it to people visiting Ella.

The breakfast is fresh, hot, and cooked on the spot. The staff are great too, kind and easy to understand, with very good English skills. It’s such a quiet hillside spot in Ella, with one of the best views around: a rugged mountain range and a big waterfall you can hear so clearly at night.
