Hotel Country Comfort

The location is hard to beat, just a minute on foot from Ella town and the train station. Our room was exceptionally clean, the food was amazing, and the staff were incredibly friendly. Special thanks to Sunil for such outstanding hospitality. I honestly can't think of a single complaint, and I'd highly recommend staying here in Ella.

The rooms were spacious and very clean, and the service was excellent. Breakfast came with toast, an omelet or fried eggs, and fresh fruit. We stayed as part of a tour, and the spot just off Ella's main strip was convenient. There was quite a bit of noise from the cricket oval across the road.

It was a very quiet night, and I slept great. I was the only guest when I arrived, after making a last-minute walk-in booking because the nearby homestay I'd booked had no electricity during the day. I paid 3000 lkr for one night in a ground-floor single room without AC, with a mosquito net, though there weren't any mosquitoes or insects. There was running hot water and free drinking water. It felt like a great deal.

Suren and Sunil were pleasing, supportive and very helpful, and the location is convenient, just a couple of minutes' walk from the market and local shops. Beyond that, we ran into a lot of problems. Wi-Fi was only available in the lobby or dining hall, the bathrooms smelled, and one door wouldn't close because of severe swelling, which was very uncomfortable. The rooms had no hairdryer or electric kettle, despite those being listed in the amenities, and there wasn't a single glass. We had to ask for glasses, and after requesting a kettle we got one for just one room, with the condition that all three rooms share it. We were told during booking that Indian cuisine was available, but couldn't find any.
