A friend who stayed here and loved it recommended it to me, and I had a great time too. I was sick with a fever for a few days, and the owner was really helpful. The view is amazing, breakfast is good, and it’s a relaxed way to enjoy Ella’s nature.

Such a lovely family ran the place, and they made the most wonderful breakfasts every day. The omelettes and fresh papaya juice were my favourites. The mountain and waterfall views were stunning, and the hospitality was brilliant. This was our best stay in Sri Lanka. The stairs could be a bit challenging for older guests, but we didn’t mind the exercise. Highly recommend!

From up the hill, the views of Ella Rock and Waterfall are wonderful. It’s around a 15-20 minute walk into town. The top room is huge and has the best view, so ask for that one. If you take a taxi, have the driver stop at Ceylon Curry House below and call the owner. They’ll send a free tuk tuk for the last 500 meters. The view is worth the extra steps.

The host was so kind and accommodating, and my room was nice and clean. From the roof of the top house where I stayed, the view was incredible. I flew my drone each morning. I had hot water every day, though the Wi-Fi was patchy. That seems standard here, and it did work most of the time. The town is about a mile away, 1.6km, and takes around 20 minutes on a lovely shortcut down the hill with stone steps. I’d absolutely stay here again if I came back, and would plan to stay here. Highly recommend!
