Jetwing Lighthouse, A Luxury Reserve

The evening began with Miss Imasha, who organized every detail of our ‘Among the Rocks Dinning Experience’ with real care. She understood the private, romantic proposal I had in mind and brought it together beautifully. Her communication and attention to detail were flawless, and she even arranged a professional photographer so we can relive the moment. My partner and I had a private dinner for two on the rocks overlooking the sea. With waves below, candles in the breeze, and the sky full of sunset colors, the setting felt like a movie. It was secluded and intimate, on a private stretch of beach within the hotel grounds, so we had the privacy we wanted for such a personal moment. Our butler was attentive but discreet, and the chef’s food was delicious and beautifully presented. The butler, chef, photographer and events team coordinated everything seamlessly, without any detail being missed. Thanks to Miss Imasha and the whole team, a special dinner became a once in a lifetime memory. I can’t recommend this proposal experience in Southern Sri Lanka enough.

The rooms are lovely and big, the food is good, and the staff are courteous and friendly. Really, I can’t fault the hotel. Just know there isn’t much around it. That’s fine for a short visit, but if you’re staying longer, you can’t walk somewhere else for a drink or to browse shops.

The setting is a quiet stretch of coast, but Galle Fort and the rest of the area are only minutes away. It’s a great mix of peaceful and convenient. The food was excellent, including delicious vegetarian options, and the team were happy to adapt things to what we needed. The staff were warm, proactive and made us feel well looked after. When we checked out at 6am, they had packed breakfast for us, a thoughtful touch. The rooms at Jetwing Lighthouse are luxurious, beautifully designed and practical, with lots of care put into the layout and amenities. From arrival to departure, it was an outstanding stay and one of the best hotels we experienced in Sri Lanka.

The traditional design is lovely, and the room was spacious and completely dark at night. The pool area was clean, quiet and relaxing. We were on our honeymoon and got a delicious cake in the room, though there were no upgrades or other complimentary extras like we’d received at other hotels. For the price, the hotel didn’t feel up to its five star status. It’s quite old and needs renovation. The AC and ceiling fan were old and extremely loud, so we slept without cooling and the room got hot and humid. Room doors open mostly outdoors, bringing in road noise from the busy road and mosquitoes when left open. The breakfast buffet had limited choices and the quality wasn’t great. When we raised concerns, the front desk staff weren’t very helpful. Sadly, we wouldn’t return to Jetwing Lighthouse.
