The courtyard mango tree brings in local wildlife, especially the lovely black-faced monkeys that show up in the mornings. With all the tropical greenery around, it’s easy to unwind here. In the morning, the back terrace also gets plenty of sun. The food was a highlight. We had a fruit platter and coconut water, then tried the Egg Hoppers with spiced fish, pineapple chutney, and onion crisps. They were delicious. Breakfast has English and Sri Lankan choices, and the cuisine is authentic. The rooms are simple, clean, and have all the amenities you need. The colourful entrance, with its gorgeous hanging umbrellas, feels like a whole different world from Galle’s colonial streets. Staff welcomed us into the boutique lobby with a cool towel and drink, and were friendly and attentive without hovering or hurrying us. The bartender, Lal, chatted with us about our travels and his own experiences. The food and atmosphere made it a lovely place to relax.

Mango House has a vintage Sri Lankan look with a bit of a jungle feel, which we really liked. Our waiter was patient, very friendly, and gave great service. Most of the food and drinks were tasty, but the hoppers were the worst we’ve had, and also the most expensive. Just something to note if you visit for lunch. Overall, it’s worth a visit.

We stayed here with my husband in December 2019, and I’m only getting around to writing this now. The Galle Fort location is excellent, and the place has cathedral ceilings, vintage furniture, muslin curtains, spiritual music, and a lovely scent throughout. The food was fabulous, and the service was just right. I especially want to thank Mr. Pradeep, the hotel manager, and the staff. I accidentally left a small pouch with valuables at the property, and the hotel returned it to me. Their honesty really touched me. Kudos to this place, it’s a must visit :)

The atmosphere was so beautiful, and the staff were extremely kind. We had our favourite dinner in Sri Lanka here. The traditional Sri Lankan dishes and house cocktails were amazing. It’s also suitable for kids and vegetarians. We can’t wait to return next year. Great job, everyone!

Our tourist driver Lakshan, a proud member of SLTCU, recommended Mango House Restaurant, and we had a wonderful visit today. The house among the lush mango trees has a charming, peaceful, and unique feel. Staff were professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The food was excellent, full of flavour and beautifully presented. Definitely try the Steam Snapper in Banana leaves. I’d happily recommend this memorable spot to anyone visiting Galle.
