We’ve been a few times, and the food and service have been excellent on every visit. The fried rice and hot butter cuttlefish were the best. Prices are reasonable and portions generous. I’d recommend sitting upstairs, where you get some views of the Indian Ocean and it’s much calmer.

The food is delicious, but service could be better, possibly because there aren’t many staff, though they did their best. Ordering in advance may save you unnecessary waiting. Fresh juice is often unavailable, and parking is limited, although you can park on either side of Galle road. Card payment is accepted. Service still needs improvement.

Good spot if you like spicy food. The portions are huge even the small fried rice was plenty for two, and our small soup order could’ve fed three. The large one might serve 5-6, haha. Food was nice and very reasonably priced. It’s a fun place to hang out with friends and have a beer, and there’s a bar downstairs with hard liquor too.

We stayed five days and loved it. The sea facing restaurant has a full glass wall, with views of fishing boats, yachts, and fishermen on shore. Its Chinese and Lankan fusion menu was really nice, and the food was amazing. Breakfast was small but yummy, with crumbled eggs, a fruit platter, toast, and tea. The staff were nice too. Only a couple spoke English, but the others understood us anyway. The room was comfortable and spacious for two, with a comfy bed, couch, aircon, mini fridge, TV, and a lovely sea view. The bathroom was modern, spacious, and clean, though the hot water could be temperamental and sometimes scalding. The TV mostly had local channels, but staff could set up one English channel if you asked. Mintage has rooms as well as a restaurant and bar. Staff said the rooms had opened only 6 months earlier, while the restaurant had been there more than a year and a half. It doesn’t look very appealing from outside, but the rooms are much better once you’re in. Galle fort is about 10min away by tuk, around 200 rupees, though some tuks may ask for more. A good start for the owners’ new venture and a good place for a medium length stay.
