Ripple Reach Apartments

The location worked perfectly for us, and while this isn't a luxury place, it was decent and good value. We accidentally booked a single bed apartment for our family with two kids and arrived late in the evening. The host manager was friendly and helpful, kept the original price, and moved us to an apartment with a double bed for the children.

The apartment is just off Galle road, around a 15-minute walk from the fort, but it needs updating. It sits on the top floor of a commercial building and gets very hot in the daytime. The only AC is in the room and barely cools it. My friend had booked after seeing a completely different apartment from the one we were given. The toilet is tiny, with hardly enough space to turn around.

The rooms are on the building's fourth floor, and with offices downstairs there can be a lot of people around during office hours. Still, I'd choose this place over a hotel again. I liked walking along the sealine to Galle Fort, and both the owner and employees were welcoming. It could use AC in the living room and a bit more kitchenware.

We had a lovely time talking with our host, Mr.Dam, whose tips made it easy to explore local attractions. He was incredibly friendly and made us feel at home, and the housekeeping staff were helpful and warm too. Ripple Reach has a lovely sea view and is near shops, the bus stand, and railway station. It covers the basics well, and is a good choice if warm hospitality matters more to you than fancy ambience. We stayed here last March.
