They made us feel very welcome, with our names on a guest board, handshakes, drinks and cold towels when we arrived. The owners have made a simple hostel look bright and modern, with a lovely courtyard for meals. It’s a popular, very photogenic place, and the terrace outside our room had thoughtful tourist information. Our room was spacious with a comfortable mattress, though the cover didn’t fit the larger bed. The bathroom was basic, and although the fixtures were new and clean, they felt a little wobbly. Breakfast was tasty, with a choice of toast, fried eggs and little sausages, or a filling Sri Lankan option. Fresh fruit and cafetiere coffee were nice touches, but over our four nights we would’ve liked more variety. It would also have been good to have the bins emptied and dry towels during our stay. A good little business, and I hope it keeps doing well. There’s plenty of competition in the Fort.

A cosy place with a friendly feel. The staff are so kind, and the location in Galle fort is ideal. The humidity was a small issue, though I think that’s a problem throughout the fort.

You’re right in the heart of Galle fort, with all the nearby attractions just a few minutes’ walk away. Lighthouse beach is literally two minutes from the hotel, and you can’t ask for more. The staff are friendly. For the best view and newer rooms, ask for an upstairs room. I wouldn’t recommend the restaurant food, it wasn’t very good. If you want Sri Lankan breakfast, you’ll need to tell them a day ahead. There’s a row of restaurants just outside with delicious food.

The breakfast was amazing, and the staff were so helpful, even carrying our luggage and lending us an umbrella. They’d also put together a useful guide to the area. We followed it to visit a temple near Galle. Highly recommend this lovely place.

Thieves! Don’t go there! My companion and I each left money hidden in our bags, 15,000 and 10,000 rupees respectively. When we returned a few hours after visiting Galle, it was all gone. We should’ve read the comments. It seems this isn’t the first time guests have had money stolen from their rooms!
