Hotel Breetas Garden

The house has so much character, from its distinctive furniture to little details over a hundred years old. Every piece seems to have a story. The mountains, light, and fresh air make for breathtaking views, and the whole place feels cozy and thoughtfully put together. It’s calm and beautiful here, and I felt something inside me go quiet as soon as I arrived. A place where time slows down and you just want to sit, breathe, and stay a little longer.

We stopped at Britas Garden for a night with family while traveling through Ginigathhena toward Nuwara Eliya. It felt comfortable and safe, the climate was lovely, and the freshly prepared food was delicious. It’s a great local place for families to stay overnight on the way to Nuwara Eliya. I recommend it for an authentic, relaxing visit. We noticed plenty of foreign travelers also choose Britas Garden for an overnight stop, which reflects the comfort and service.

Jabbar made our stay even better with his outstanding, service minded attitude. The location is fantastic and it’s a quiet place. The pool is great, and the rooms are basic but more than okay.

The garden and grounds were lovely, and the colonial building has a lot of potential, but we were very disappointed. For the price, it wasn’t worth it, especially after several better stays for less. Our room didn’t match the booking description. There was mold on the walls and ceiling, hardly any terrace furniture beyond one old table, no internet, and lots of broken things, including missing handles and broken lamps. We had booked for 3 adults and one child but received only 3 towels and blankets. The staff were the worst part. The waiter was extremely rude, demanded payment for the room while we were eating breakfast, and stood behind us the whole time. Breakfast was basic compared with every other place we stayed. He even asked how many pieces of bread we’d eat, then brought exactly that number and no more. Our driver was treated very poorly too.
