Samudra Beach House

We hadn't really considered visiting the sister hotel, Kahanda Kanda, before we arrived, but ended up taking the free transfer there several times for lunch and dinner. It was a lovely change of scene in the jungle after staying by the beach. The owner George made a point of chatting with the guests, and one evening we watched Crazy Rich Asians, which was a highlight. We spent four nights at KK Beach after our Sri Lanka tour and had a relaxing stay. The manager and staff were very friendly. Kasun looked after us by the pool, moving our beds where we wanted and bringing extra towels whenever we needed them. He was always cheerful and efficient.

We stayed in Penthouse Suite 5, with a large bedroom, a separate sitting room and a bathroom. The rooms are quiet, apart from the sound of the ocean when the patio doors are open. You can see the pool and sea from every room, and the water is only yards away. KK Beach sits right on a nearly empty stretch of soft white sand, with direct beach access. It's a peaceful place to unwind, just a short drive from Galle. The small boutique hotel is nicely decorated, and service is excellent without being intrusive. Staff are polite and always ready to help. The food is very good, mixing Sri Lankan dishes with some European choices, and there's a decent drinks list with wine at reasonable prices. A lovely hidden spot.

I was in tears when it was time to leave KK Beach. I just didn't want to go. The place felt like magic, and I can't wait to return. The caring, warm staff made us feel welcome at every step without crowding us. The food was fresh, creative and full of flavour. With its lovely view and relaxed, chic atmosphere, it was easy to feel at home. You can tell how much care goes into the property and into looking after guests. Everything came together so beautifully.

Breakfast was à la carte, with generous plates of fresh fruit, and the coconut pancakes were a real highlight. The staff were attentive and friendly throughout our stay. We were welcomed warmly at KK Beach and given a spacious suite with a sea view, modern furnishings and a calm feel. The pool was great for a morning swim, and the sunbeds made it easy to relax. A short climb leads down from the property to the beach, where we enjoyed quiet walks. A beautiful little beachfront hotel from KK Collection, and a relaxing, high-quality escape.
