We left after lunch and asked for a refund, offering to have the meal cost deducted. At first they wanted Rs. 3,500 per plate for a very basic meal of rice, chicken curry and three sides, with no dessert. That price seemed ridiculous given the food and the rest of the experience. After we discussed it, they lowered it to Rs. 2,500 per plate, and we took the remaining refund and left. We had booked three weeks ahead, unaware the hotel was reopening on March 1st, 2026 after being closed for about two years. On arrival, it seemed unprepared. The room hadn’t been cleaned properly, the TV and air conditioner didn’t work, and staff only seemed to know about the problems after we told them. It felt as if they had opened just for our booking without checking anything first. The garden was in awful shape too, with cigarette packets, plastic bottles and other rubbish scattered around. Lunch didn’t arrive until 3:30 PM, and the food tasted like leftovers. We asked the chef to try it, and he admitted it wasn’t good. He said they didn’t have gas and had somehow managed to make the meal. That was shocking for a hotel that had confirmed reservations. We were the only guests in a huge hotel, but were still treated poorly and unprofessionally. I don’t understand why guests would be treated that way, especially while the hotel is trying to restart operations. Sharing this so others don’t have the same trouble. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We took a family holiday in Hambantota and chose this hotel, but when we arrived it seemed they weren’t ready to welcome guests. The hospitality was very poor. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

We spotted dolphins about 500m from Peacock Beach Hotel, which was an unforgettable surprise. It’s also a safe, family-friendly spot that’s great for kids. The beachside location has lovely views, two pools and a beautiful garden. Our room was comfortable and clean, the food was delicious, and the staff were so friendly. We had a wonderful stay last week. Thanks to the whole team for making it so enjoyable.

With full board, we got to try the buffet at every meal and really enjoyed the food. The building is old, but our rooms were comfortable enough. Since there weren’t many guests, we could wander around and use either of the two pools without being disturbed. There was lots of space for the group to walk around and do activities. After our trip from Colombo and a visit to the birds park, reception welcomed us warmly and offered drinks. The larger pool is in front of the building and a smaller one is behind it. Near the entrance there’s a small field that worked well for group games or cricket; on the other side, we played a few games on the badminton court. Reception lent us the sports equipment we needed. Everyone was happy with the stay, and staff were on hand when we needed them. I hope management keeps up the good work and maintains the property to a good standard.

Our room was roomy and spotless, with plush beds, fast Wi-Fi and nicely designed toiletries. The restaurant served fresh, high quality local and international food, and the breakfast buffet had a particularly good range. Staff were friendly and clearly willing to go the extra mile, which made us feel cared for throughout. At Peacock Beach Resort and Spa, the welcome at check-in was warm and service stayed attentive during the whole visit. It was an incredible stay, and I’d recommend it for a romantic break, a family holiday or a quiet retreat.
