We were three friends from Indonesia, India, and the US, and spent two nights here. The owner was friendly and helpful, arranged a taxi from Haputale to Dickwella, and even gave us lunch for the trip. There’s a tuk-tuk available too. The Wi-Fi was poor, like everywhere else in Sri Lanka, haha.

We were told at checkout that the bill was Rs.9,100: Rs. 8,500 for the room, Rs.400 for two bed teas, and Rs.200 for a water bottle. The breakfast included in that room rate wasn’t enough for two and wasn’t good, just one egg cut up in the middle of four slices of bread. The Booking.com listing had shown Rs. 6500/- per night, but when we arrived they quoted Rs 8,500/- including bed tea and breakfast. With no price confirmation, we felt we had to pay what these cheaters asked. DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The room was comfortable and clean, and our hosts were lovely. They picked us up from the train station and dropped us back there too. We had a great stay and would definitely return.

The overnight stay was really unpleasant. Around 10 pm, one of our group went to wash and found the hot water wasn’t working. When we told the owner, he came over annoyed, switched on some switches, and told us to check. It worked then, but he blamed us for not knowing how to use the tap and said we were disturbing his sleep. We’d booked two days after being quoted Rs. 6500/- per night for room only over the phone, but left after one night for a personal reason. At departure they charged Rs 8,500/- per night. With no price confirmation, we felt we had to pay what these cheaters demanded. DO NOT VISIT THIS PLACE. That was a horrifying experience, and I don’t recommend staying here. If you have to stay for some reason, make sure to confirm the price before check-in.

From our room on top of the hill, we could see the town lights, and it made for a beautiful stay. The room was lovely and the bed really comfortable. Our host cooked us a tasty meal with lots of traditional flavors. A nice place to spend a few days while exploring Haputale. I’d recommend staying at the Lilly Guest Inn.
