Thotalagala

I spent three days here during a long holiday, and the views stayed with me the whole time. The weather was exceptionally clear, so the flatlands and smaller mountain ranges nearby looked vivid and pristine. I kept watching the clouds drift toward the mountains under those beautiful blue skies. From the corridor, the first glimpse of the view made me say “Wow” out loud, and I realized other guests were quietly taking it in too. The infinity pool is perfectly placed for relaxing in the sun with that landscape in front of you. Outside, there’s a seating area with comfortable sofas and a fire pit, with what felt like the island's best panoramic view to the east. I was on a full-board basis, and the meals deserve a mention of their own. Every dish was beautifully prepared and delicious. The team could easily belong in a Michelin-starred restaurant, and each course left me looking forward to the next. The staff were attentive, warm, and very helpful. Special thanks to Seshaya, the on-site manager, who made sure everything went smoothly. This is one of God’s most beautiful creations in its purest form. I’d say everyone should spend at least one night here in their lifetime.

We stayed in a wonderful room, Major Rogers, and were greeted with a very welcome spicy hot chocolate. The food was great, and the service was amazing. The evening meals are served at a lovely communal table, while breakfast and lunch are on the terrace. If the weather is nice, afternoon tea on the lawn is a must. At 5,000 feet above sea level, nights can get chilly, but they put hot water bottles in your bed. Loved it here.

Thotalagala gave my husband and me an unforgettable stay, with lovely service, food, atmosphere, and views. For our honeymoon, the staff surprised us with a high tea picnic overlooking incredible scenery. Madhu was a wonderful guide. We loved his birding tour so much that we went twice. We can’t wait to return.

Thotalagala Bungalow was one of the best places I visited in Sri Lanka. The rooms were spacious and spotless, with beautiful décor that felt cozy. Ms Seshaya and the staff were attentive and went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable and enjoying ourselves. They surprised us with a lovely cake for our anniversary. Dinner and breakfast were the best. I’ll definitely recommend this heaven to family and friends.
