Copacabana Beach Hotel

Nice beachfront rooms and friendly staff. The view while having breakfast is lovely.

We slept comfortably and didn't run into the bar noise mentioned in other comments during any of our four nights. The owner seemed to be doing what he could about it. Our room was clean and tidy, right by the beach, with a wonderful view from the balcony. Breakfast on the roof was tasty and clean, especially the pancakes with honey and coconut, which we'll remember for a long time. A special thank you to the owner and his family for being so kind and helpful. By chance, the owner was working at the airport on the very night we were flying home. He came to the front of the plane to say goodbye once more, which surprised us and made us really happy.

For a limited budget, this place worked well for staying near the sea while having privacy and still being close to Hikka's lively scene. The popular Vibrations Club and Bar is only a few minutes' walk away, and there's a small local grocery store across Galle Road. The nearby Avenra Hotel takeaway is a cheap, clean option for lunch or dinner, with tasty rice, noodles, kotthu and other food. There are a few tables if you'd rather eat there. During the off-season, the owner told me meals and drinks wouldn't be available at the property, but kindly offered coffee with fresh milk and sugar in the morning. High-season stays may be different. The property and my room were clean and well kept. The first-floor room had enough space, a four-poster bed, bedside tables, a cupboard and a mini fridge. On the balcony were two comfortable cushioned chairs with waterproof covers, a clothes rack and a small table. The bathroom was good and had hot water. The owner was friendly and helpful, giving directions and advice over the phone when I asked. It's on Galle Road, just metres from the beach, and west-facing rooms have a decent sea view through the coconut trees. My only complaint was that the kitchen had no microwave for reheating food.

We stayed 14 nights and were so sad to leave Copacabana beach Hotel today. The owner and his family were friendly and really helpful, and breakfast on the rooftop was great, with excellent food. Our room was spacious and very clean, though it didn't face the beach. We didn't hear noise from the nearby bars, even on New Year's Eve. The location was perfect for the beach and local bars and restaurants. We'll definitely be back soon. Thank you!
