Hummus Hotel Hikkaduwa

Oday and Vijay were incredible hosts who made everyone feel welcome. Free yoga every day, games, beer pong, and table tennis made for a really fun social atmosphere. The dorm rooms were lovely, and the hostel was always incredibly tidy. We also had a kitchen with all the utensils ready to use. It’s right by the beach and close to everything. We loved it so much it felt like home, and wanted to extend our stay. One of the best hostels we stayed in Sri Lanka!

The owner is a gem, really attentive and genuinely keen to make guests feel at home, and the rest of the team are friendly too. It’s easy to meet people here, and everything feels thoughtfully planned and well organized. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, with great air conditioning and water pressure, and cleanliness is clearly a priority. Food options, a supermarket, ATMs, the beach, and plenty of restaurants are all within walking distance. This was the best accommodation I had in all of Sri Lanka.

The hostel is close to lots of nice restaurants and cafes. The main surfing point is a five-minute walk away, and turtle beach is just under ten minutes away, so I could come back to rest and have friendly encounters between surf sessions and wanderings. It’s spacious and social, but the rooms are set apart from the social areas, which gave me a quiet, comfy bed to recover in after the long trip and jetlag. My room was always fresh and clean. There are little places to chill with jungle noises and the smell of incense. A beautiful start to my stay in Sri Lanka!

I stayed for two weeks and felt at home. The people were great, always smiling and ready to help, and I loved the location and chill vibe. There’s a kitchen where you can cook, yoga lessons, and so much more. I’m grateful for everything and would highly recommend this place.
