Neela's Guest House-Hikkaduwa Beach

I booked a basic room with AC. The comforts were simple by European standards, but it had what I needed to relax, and the place is good value for money. There's also a small coffee shop and restaurant downstairs. My only downside was paying extra for an AC room. The location was excellent: you walk through the hotel to reach the beach.

What made this stay special was the relaxed, homely feeling. It felt like a hidden gem for unwinding and enjoying Hikkaduwa's natural beauty. The restaurant served delicious food, with both Western and Sri Lankan options, and the staff were so friendly and helpful that we always felt welcome. The location is right by the beach, with lovely ocean views. Our room was clean, comfortable and well maintained, and had everything we needed for a laid-back visit. We had a fantastic time at Neelas Beach Inn in Hikkaduwa and can't wait to come back. I'd recommend it to solo travellers, couples or families looking for a cozy beachfront stay.

Even with the hotel right by the main street, it stayed quiet enough for a good night's sleep. We spent two nights here and enjoyed them a lot. The rooms were spacious and clean, the staff super friendly, and the beach was clean too. They provide sunbeds since the hotel is also a restaurant, and it's a lovely place to watch the sunset.

We especially enjoyed the mango-prawn-wrap and fresh passionfruit juice at Neelas beachfront restaurant. The juice was also given to us as a welcome drink. Neela and her crew were warm and attentive throughout. Our top-floor room had a great ocean view from a big balcony, plenty of space, a comfy large bed, air con, and was very clean. Being right on the beach meant we could fall asleep to the waves, and the price was great.
