Greenish Villa

The setting is quiet and relaxing, with a nice garden, and the price is reasonable. It's a house converted into a guest house or resort. There's a pool, though I can't say what the water quality is like since I didn't use it. A lot of basic things that could be fixed in a day let the experience down. There's no sign at the turnoff from the by-road, and you don't see the resort sign farther up until you're level with the gate. The bathroom door has no handle for pulling it closed. Some attached bathroom doors have broken locks, so families should consider having someone stand guard. Bathroom windows have no handles to hold them open and close by themselves. Private homes sit across the parapet wall, so keep that in mind for a bachelor's party. It's not very close to Hikkaduwa beach, so check the distance on Google Maps and decide. You'll need a private vehicle. The area is remote and rural, without nearby supermarkets, so don't expect to buy ice cubes in the middle of the night. There are positives too: caretaker Ravi was very helpful and a good cook. You can ask for a barbecue, and they'll provide one. The resort has a sister hotel on Hikkaduwa beachfront, where you can use some facilities. I'd clarify and arrange all food, drinking water, linen, and party needs in detail to avoid disappointment.

I spent a relaxing 7-day vacation here. It’s a very peaceful place.
