The hotel's staff were courteous, professional, and always willing to help. The beachfront setting is peaceful and welcoming, right in the middle of all the action in Hikkaduwa. Every room has stunning ocean views, and the hotel also has a charming beachside restaurant and bar suited to families, plus a small pool for relaxing. The spacious rooms were immaculate and very comfortable, with large, well-equipped bathrooms and everything a traveller might need. My son stayed here long term while completing specialised diving courses in Hikkaduwa, and felt safe, secure, and healthy the whole time. It was reassuring for us as parents. This is a truly lovely chalet-style beach boutique hotel, lovingly run by a German/Sri Lankan family. Madam Helen, the owner, is a remarkable, genuinely kind person who is there full-time, making sure things run smoothly and guests are looked after. Her son, Mr. Felix, is an absolute professional and does an excellent job managing this very special beachfront hotel.

The price is low, and now I understand why. The massage room wasn’t presented very well, and the woman doing the massage seemed unsure where to place her hands or how much pressure to use on my back and shoulders. She said she’d been doing massages for 10 years, but I didn’t feel confident in her work. I came in thinking the place would have a good professional masseuse, but I wouldn’t recommend getting a massage here.

The chef made our meals feel personal by checking with us each time to see how the food was and whether anything could be better. The food and rooms were reasonably priced without sacrificing quality. Our room was spacious, clean, and well kept, and the whole property looked carefully maintained. We spent two relaxing nights at Blue note Hotel, Hikkaduwa. The staff were friendly, polite, and helpful from the moment we arrived. It’s a clean, welcoming place and good value for a stay in Hikkaduwa. I’d happily come back.

I found the massage uncomfortable and painful. Some of it even tickled, and I didn’t get the sense that the masseur was paying attention to whether I was comfortable.
