We loved the place and the owners, and recommend it to others. The owners were kind, welcoming, and helpful. Their son communicated perfectly with us on WhatsApp, and the parents spoke good English in person. There are three rooms for rent on the first floor, sharing a kitchen with all the equipment you need to cook. Two rooms have small private balconies; the third has the biggest balcony, where breakfast is served. You can choose the time, even 11 or 12am, and each room gets breakfast at a different time. The rooms are nice and new, though the cleaning could be better. The house is between the railway and the main road, so there's quite a bit of traffic and neighbour noise. We got used to it, and other guests were staying for a long time too. For somewhere quieter, look farther into the jungle, beyond the railway and away from the main road. The beach is just across the road, and it's a nice walk to Hikkaduwa, with more restaurants and shops. Narigama Beach was our favourite. It's long, spacious, clean, and quiet, with only a few people at that end. We had planned to move to Mirissa, but after seeing the beach there and in Unawatuna, we changed our minds. We rented a 110cc scooter from the owner for a week and used it as we liked, skipping days when it rained.
