Valampuri Hotel

I'd wanted to visit this hotel for years, and finally made it in Feb 2026 for lunch. The crab rice and curry, poori, and fish rice and curry were fresh, tasty, and generous portions. The food was excellent. I would've given five stars if a fly or two hadn't bothered us. Patrons should also keep the washing area tidy and avoid splashing water around. A long-awaited dream came true for me.

At Valampuri Hotel in Jaffna town, we had mixed nasi goreng and mixed rotty koththu, and both were delicious. The pineapple juice and lassi were refreshing and tasty too. The interior was neat and pleasant, and I noticed they offer rooms, which is a nice extra for visitors. The staff were very friendly. Everything was great, and I'd recommend it if you're visiting Jaffna.

Dishanika at reception was so welcoming, always smiling, and quick to respond. She guided us really well, and hearing her beautiful Sri Lankan Tamil made the stay feel even warmer. We had a pleasant stay at Valampuri Hotel, and I'd highly recommend it.

I spent 7 days here. The location is good, the staff are friendly, and the single-bed rooms at valampuri are clean and spacious. The restaurant is the best in town for authentic jaffna food, and in my experience the chef will accommodate any extras. A couple of things could be improved: someone should check that the toilet phone and showers work properly, and the outside balcony, especially the seating area, needs a proper clean. That's for management to address, not the staff, who are all a lovely bunch. Thanks for the hospitality, I enjoyed my stay at valampuri.
