Castle Hill Bungalow Boutique hotel

Breakfast was served outside with a beautiful view, fresh fruit, and a well-cooked full English breakfast. The staff were all warm, friendly, and attentive. We loved the comfortable communal sitting area, with relaxing music and wide French doors open to the garden. The old colonial bungalow has an elegant feel, lovely gardens, and views over the valley and lake. Our room had everything we needed, including a great shower, and the beds were very comfortable. The infinity pool also had a lovely valley view. We stayed for the two nights we spent in Kandy.

The room was beautiful, and the whole property felt peaceful and intimate, more like a home than a hotel. We only wish we’d stayed longer than one night. There were monkeys just outside our room, a lush garden, and a pool with an impressive view of Kandy. Breakfast at the long communal table was a treat. A kind staff member also took us by tuk-tuk to a Valentine's Eve buffet, a short but lovely gesture. If you want a quiet place with a wow view, this is it. Highly recommend.

The hotel is a little quirky, which was a refreshing change from the sameness of big chains. Staff provided very good service, and the infinity pool has a great view over Kandy city. Breakfast was served in the garden, with a lovely view of Kandy Lake and The Temple of the Tooth on the far side. The location was handy for the lake and city, but quieter up the hill, away from much of the traffic.

The evening view of Kandy Lake lights and the hillside opposite was spectacular, and we would happily have stayed longer. We spent one night in the bungalow section of this elegant villa, which has been turned into a high-end boutique hotel with only a few rooms. We arrived late and were welcomed warmly. The hotel arranged a table for us at a nearby restaurant, though it served Chinese food rather than Sri Lankan specialties.
