Asanka is such a kind host, and he and the friends who help at the hostel make you feel at home. He’ll help with everything and show you the city like only a local can. The hostel itself is calm and very nice to stay in. But the reason I came back after traveling for 1,5 months was his Kottu. It’s the best in Kandy and Sri Lanka, and it was still the best after all that time. When I return to Sri Lanka, I’ll definitely stay here for a third time.

Asanda and Vijay are very welcoming, and it feels more like a homestay. They provide filtered water and breakfast. The Kottuo is the best in Sri Lanka. There’s a lovely garden with amazing fruits and spices, and I saw a mongoose.

The highlight for me was the owner, Asanka. He was funny, welcoming, and incredibly helpful, even getting last-minute train tickets for my friends and me and taking us to the station to make sure we boarded the right train. His Kandy tour was fascinating too. Along with a tea factory and a woodworking workshop, he showed us some of his favorite spots and shared so much about local history, culture, and Buddhism that I’m still thinking about it. It’s the smallest hostel I’ve stayed in, but the experience was really good. Thanks, Asanka, for all the help and a great time.

Asanka made our extra day in Kandy memorable, taking us around and explaining Sri Lankan history, Buddhism, and more in excellent English. He also found reserved tickets for the train to Ella after tickets at the station had sold out, and gave us helpful information for exploring the area. The hostel is basic, but it has comfortable beds with mosquito nets and the essentials. Asanka’s aunt cooked breakfast each morning, and it was among the best we ate in Sri Lanka. We had a wonderful stay, thanks to such a fantastic host. I’d recommend it if you’re after an unforgettable experience.

The Kottu and breakfast were both amazing. We spent a lovely few days with Asanka, who took us on a tour of Kandy with some incredible stops. Even with no train running from Kandy, the visit was well worth it.
