Cirute' Talwatte, Kandy

I called to ask about booking a room, hoping a conversation would help me feel confident after seeing the property only in online photos. The staff member who answered couldn’t clearly explain the available rooms or dates, and the call felt uncomfortable and disappointing. Their manner was unprofessional and lacked basic communication and hospitality skills. Polite, clear service matters, especially for people making their first inquiry. I hope the hotel improves staff training and how it communicates with prospective guests.

The drive up the road involves quite a climb, so be ready for that. Once there, the place is peaceful, clean, and comfortable, with lovely views. Mr. Rathnayaka, the owner, was friendly and helpful. The house has three floors, an elevator, a mid-sized pool, and living spaces decorated with antiques and old photographs. There’s also a fully equipped kitchen if you want to cook, though you can’t buy food on the premises. Several restaurants are nearby. Our room was spacious and had the necessary amenities, including AC and a TV, although the TV in our room didn’t work. The TVs in the other rooms worked fine. I’d recommend Cirute' Kandy to anyone after a quiet break while staying close enough to explore the city.

The calm atmosphere and charming living room stood out, with antique pieces and photos connected to the Kandy Kingdom giving it a historical feel. The bedrooms felt luxurious, and the bathroom and kitchen were spotless. The manager was friendly and very helpful, and the prices were reasonable. There are three floors with an elevator, plus a nice mid-level pool. It turned out even better than we’d hoped. Highly recommend!

The view takes in some cities, Hunnasgiriya, and the Knuckles mountain range, and the interior has a cozy antique feel, with old Sri Lankan items including swords. Mr. Rathnayaka, the manager, was kind and friendly, and especially helpful when we ran into a personal issue. We were given a welcome drink on arrival. The rooms were spacious, very clean, and well maintained. Amenities included tea and coffee, a TV with Peo TV, soap, and hot water with good pressure. The pool was fairly clean, though in my opinion it could use more maintenance. There’s no restaurant, so you can’t buy food at the property. The nearby "light house" restaurant is an option, and the food there is really good. Cirute's talwatte is a lovely, peaceful spot on Kandy-digana rd. It’s a three-story homestay, with two or three rooms on the first floor, a suite-style room and living area on the ground floor, and the entrance, living area, dining area, and kitchen on the top floor.
