Kandy City Rest

The quiet hillside setting is a big part of what makes this cottage special. It’s in Peradeniya on Uda Peradeniya Road, close to the University, and there’s a bus service. The family running it were extremely helpful. I travel a lot, both around Sri Lanka and abroad, and this is one of the most beautiful and distinctive cottages I’ve found. It’s away from the city bustle, with a superb breakfast and plenty of useful things on hand, including a TV, kitchen, microwave, refrigerator, iron, cutlery, and cooking utensils.

We stayed for three weeks while working online and really enjoyed it. The family who live downstairs were lovely and helped with everything. One evening their son even went into Kandy town just to buy us a bottle of wine. The apartment is spacious, with a big living room, a fully equipped kitchen, and three separately rented rooms. Each room locks; two have their own bathrooms with hot showers. The balcony looks out over green rainforest, and it’s peaceful here, though Kandy town is only about a 10-minute drive away. You can rent a scooter or take a tuk tuk. The Wi-Fi worked well in our room, and there’s a washing machine. For us, it’s the best place we’ve stayed so far in Kandy, especially if you want to avoid the hectic city center.

The owners were kind, and the surroundings are lovely and full of nature. It’s a calm place, still not too far from the city. I’d definitely recommend it.
