Mountbatten Bungalow

We really enjoyed the setting and the hospitality. When my wife had a stomach problem, manager Mr Ananda went out of his way to help us. He’s a wonderful gentleman and hotelier. Thanks to him and the team for taking such good care of us. I’d highly recommend the property.

The atmosphere at Mountbatten Bungalow was so peaceful, and the staff were warm and attentive. Chief Butler Mr. Srilaal was especially kind and provided outstanding service, while the GM was also very helpful and supportive. We had a lovely stay and would absolutely come back.

With its colonial architecture and interiors, this boutique hotel has a distinct old-world feel, balanced by modern amenities in its rooms and cottages. It’s close to Kandy but set in a quiet, naturally beautiful spot. The hotel is said to have been used by Lord Mountbatten during World War II. There’s an infinity pool looking out over the mountain range, and the restaurant serves tasty local and international food.

The staff are genuinely friendly and try their best, but service can be extremely slow, especially at breakfast and when you make a request. The bungalows feel dated and not very well built, and the food’s quality and selection don’t feel worth the price. It’s a charming hotel, though clearly not the best or really in the luxury category. If you can eat elsewhere, I would.
