The best part for my photography trip was being able to step onto the wooden balcony and capture flower vendors, temple visitors, and the quiet daily life unfolding below. The Olde Empire Hotel is directly opposite the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic, so the location was perfect for that. The building has real age to it. It has operated since 1898 and was originally a coffee factory from 1857, with colonial furniture and a weathered feel that seems authentic. The rooms are basic, so don’t expect luxury, but that character is exactly what made it special for me.
