Royal Kandyan Hotel

Mr. Janaka gave everyone a personal welcome and arranged a delicious, beautiful breakfast. We also found the rooms comfortable and the service excellent, with warm hospitality throughout. Royal Kandyan Hotel went beyond what we expected. Highly recommended for a pleasant, memorable stay in Kandy.

The food was my favorite part, with lots of choices and every dish fresh, flavorful, and incredibly delicious. The rooms were comfortable and clean, and the staff were really friendly. I had a great stay and would gladly recommend the hotel. mr Yana took very good care of us and his service was great.

The hotel's location in the main business area is its only saving grace. The evening cultural show is very nice and worth watching. We stayed two nights in room 503, where the bathroom stank, the door wouldn't close, and there was no hot water. After a lot of arguing and discussion with staff, we got another room. Housekeeping was still very poor. There were lipstick marks on the coffee mugs, so I don't know what they had cleaned. They wouldn't clean the room even though we put up the “make my room” sign, then claimed it hadn't been put out. Towels left on the floor weren't replaced, mugs weren't cleaned, and toiletries weren't provided. When we asked, staff argued. The food was stale, cold, tasted awful, and was inedible. Room service was just as bad. We ordered tea and got coffee an hour later. We asked for water, but they forgot for an hour and only brought it after we pleaded. I wish I could give zero stars. It's a wonder this hotel is rated four stars.

The restaurant serves good quality food, and there's an auditorium downstairs where they held a cultural program. The rooms are very good and convenient. A spacious lounge and the adjoining shop also made the stay pleasant.
