The team had Sri Lankan New Year rituals and sweets ready for us after we stayed over New Year's Eve, and even the herbal teas and mosquito repellent were thoughtful touches. The food was plentiful and amazing, and the service was outstanding. Taru Villas in Kandy is a beautifully restored colonial villa, decorated with care. Our room had a gorgeous four poster bed with a mosquito net. Thanks to the wonderful team, and best wishes for 2026!

The grounds and rooms are stunning and full of history, and the pool is beautiful. Even with the busy road audible nearby, it still felt relaxing. The curry was a favorite, and all the food was delicious and full of flavor. This was our first hotel in Sri Lanka, and the friendly, helpful staff made every minute of our stay lovely.

The staff at Taru Villas in Kandy looked after us so attentively throughout our stay. We loved the food and drinks, especially the non-alcoholic mojitos, and couldn't get enough. The building is beautiful, the rooms very comfortable, and its location made a great base for exploring Kandy. Highly recommended.

You'll need a tuktuk to get into the city since the hotel isn't in the center, but the staff can arrange one, even if you don't use uber. The service was amazing, with a small number of rooms and a team who were accommodating and skilled at what they do. The colonial villa charm is matched by lovely furnishings. For me, this has been the best stay in Sri Lanka so far. I was so comfortable at Taru villa that I could happily skip sightseeing and stay in.

The chef and his team even let us into the kitchen to learn about Sri lankan cooking, and the manager was amazing. The staff were friendly and attentive, and took great care of us. Our rooms were spotless, the hotel was well maintained, and it was nicely placed away from the busy center. Incredible accommodation. Loved it.
