Thilanka Hotel

Our wedding at Thilanka Hotel went beautifully. The team was attentive and professional, and they did more than expected to help the day run smoothly and feel memorable. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and a hit with our guests. The peaceful setting and gorgeous views made a lovely backdrop for the poruwa ceremony, especially the infinity pool and its deck. We highly recommend Thilanka Hotel for weddings and other special occasions.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the buffet had a good range of choices. I also really liked the infinity pool. The bathroom, though, was a problem. It smelled strongly of sewage, we saw cockroaches, and there was visible mold that looked scraped off instead of properly treated. It didn’t feel clean, and scented bags had been placed all around under the sink to mask the smell. The stay was okay because of the amenities and staff, but the bathroom needs better cleaning and maintenance.

We expected much better facilities and service. The rooms felt cramped and weren’t cleaned properly, and the whole hotel seemed dull and poorly maintained. The food was very poor too. The chicken biryani had eggs but little or no chicken, which was disappointing. We had paid for a buffet, then were told it wouldn’t be available because occupancy was low. Nobody told us beforehand. We visited in June, and the experience was unsatisfactory. They call this a 4-star hotel, but the service didn’t even feel like 2-star. I wouldn’t recommend visiting.

We celebrated a birthday at Thilanka Hotel Kandy, and the staff went out of their way to make everything work for the occasion. They were attentive and accommodating throughout, which we really appreciated. The setting was lovely, with breathtaking views that felt especially magical at night. The food was delicious, and every dish was beautifully prepared. A memorable place for a birthday or another special stay, highly recommend it.
