The area is local and lovely, with rice fields and temples nearby, and the family and neighborhood are about as kind as they come. Breakfast is free, tasty, and filling, and there’s clean drinking water available. Nishad is so hospitable and great to chat with every day. Stay here!

I’m extremely frustrated with Tropi Homestay in Kandy. I booked four nights for my client starting 3rd October, and our payment was fully confirmed. Yet when my client arrived, reception said there was no booking. The owner’s conduct made this much worse. They openly expressed shame and prejudice toward Indian guests, even though India is one of the closest countries and contributes a lot to tourism and the local economy. That’s disgraceful and completely unprofessional for a hospitality business. As a travel agent, I know mistakes can happen, but this level of negligence alongside such blatant discrimination is inexcusable. We and our clients are extremely dissatisfied and angry. I’d give less than one star if I could. I strongly advise potential guests to avoid Tropi Homestay. They showed no regard for honesty, professionalism, or basic hospitality. Be aware, they could do the same to you. We’re travel agents and can arrange another hotel at the time, but you might not be able to. I’m attaching a screenshot as proof of how the owner behaved.

We spent three nights here and had a wonderful stay. The hosts welcomed us warmly, and the homestay was comfortable and clean. The setting was peaceful and convenient. We felt right at home and would recommend it to anyone visiting the area.

Such a calm, quiet place surrounded by nature. Beautiful, clean, with delicious food and friendly staff. The service was superb. Highly recommend.
