Why Not Garden Hotel

The view was really nice, and the place itself was okay, but the party was a horrible experience. We’d come with family and friends to celebrate our friend leaving the country, and the waiter kept approaching us for cigarettes every few minutes. When we said they were gone, he asked different people, then complained to our own group that we wouldn’t give him any. He stole cigarettes and alcohol shots from our things, danced with us repeatedly and made the girls uncomfortable. The boys had to watch the girls and our belongings instead of enjoying themselves. When one of them told him to leave, he just stood there frowning and didn’t go. We spent a lot of money and left with bad memories. It ruined our friend’s last party with us before he returns, and the mood for everyone. The owner needs to seriously address this young man’s behavior or risk losing good customers. I don’t recommend the place at all, and it wasn’t worth the price.

I left my lens cap behind by mistake, and the staff called me and sent it somewhere I could collect it. The service was excellent. The restaurant still feels unfinished, and since I visited on a rainy day, water was leaking in several spots. It’s in a great location right by the river, though. I’m not completely satisfied with the place, but it worked well for a small party with friends.

The water was poor quality and smelled bad, and the food was below average. I wouldn’t recommend this place. I had a bad experience over a room key. One of our group accidentally took it, which was entirely our fault. The owner called to say another guest needed the room the following night. I explained it would take another day to return the key. He said it was the only one and the lock needed replacing, then told me I had to pay Rs 2500 for the replacement. I agreed. When I went to pay the next day, the lock hadn’t been replaced. The staff told me it was none of my business and they’d do it when they wanted. I think they had another key and gave it to the next guest, then cheated me out of Rs 2500.

A superb setting right beside the Mahavali river, and a nice spot to hang out with friends. You can bring your own alcohol. They open around 10am, earlier than most restaurants nearby, which start at noon. The menu is limited, the food is average, and prices are moderate.
